Instrument Repair Qualifications

Claude Nielsen

Claude has always loved fixing things and woodworking.  Those two things combined with his love of music led him to study violin making and repair in 1995 and again 1998 under Ed Campbell, Master Violin Maker from Boiling Springs, Pennsylvania.  Claude has since made 5 violins and repaired countless others, as well as violas and cellos.  He understands string instruments and loves working on them.

Claude turned his attention to include band instrument repair when Music & Families opened.  He studied band instrument repair under Daniel P. Parker at CIOMIT (Colorado Institute of Music Instrument Technology) in 2011 and 2012.  He now repairs both brass and woodwind instruments, and has repaired many in the Music & Families workshop.

Tom Daley

Tom has been playing and teaching guitar for many years.  He started repairing his own 20 years ago, and others’ guitars soon followed.  Tom then worked with other guitar repairmen and studied repair intensely.   He also studied music at Idaho State University.  He started teaching guitar and repairing fretted instruments at Music & Families in 2009.  He studies brass and woodwind instrument repair under Claude Nielsen.

Our repairmen are well qualified and do all possible to make your instrument work and look well.  They also repair and clean the cases when instruments are brought in.
